A Smarter Smart Home Designed for How You Actually Live

Lutron Lighting, Coastal Source Speaker, Control4 System Designs by Home Technology Experts

Sophisticated lighting, shading, and control designed to feel effortless while blending seamlessly into the home decor

When a family purchased this 12,000 sq. ft. Boston residence mid-construction, they saw more than a blueprint. They saw the opportunity to shape the home around how they truly live. Home Technology Experts was brought in to help make that vision a reality. With systems that elevate comfort, simplify control, and support the home’s architectural beauty.

Technology That Feels Natural

The goal for this project wasn’t to show off technology, it was to make it feel invisible. Using Control4 as the central platform, we connected lighting, audio, entertainment, and shades into one intuitive system. Whether adjusting a single room or managing the entire home, it’s easy, elegant, and fast.

To ensure day-to-day flexibility, systems like Lutron and Sonos also work independently giving the family full control, even without touching the automation platform.

Lighting, Thoughtfully Designed

Lighting played a starring role. HTE Design Engineer Jhojan Delgado took the builder’s lighting layout and redesigned the system architecture from a conventional analog layout to a fully digital Lutron HomeWorks system with over 300 fixtures. This redesign allows the homeowner maximum flexibility to reconfigure lighting as they live in the home. Traditional analog lighting would have locked them into static zones. This system is built to evolve. Fixtures were recessed and trimmed for a clean ceiling line, and engraved Palladiom keypads were customized to match the family’s real routines, not a theoretical spec sheet.

The result? Smooth dimming, flawless color, and scenes that feel as natural as turning on a light, because that’s exactly what they do.

Lutron Palladiom Shades

Quiet, Discreet Shading

Lutron Palladiom shades were used throughout the home, finished in satin nickel to complement the interior. Bedrooms feature blackout fabrics, while sheers soften natural light in common areas. Shades are integrated into scenes but can also be adjusted manually, offering convenience without compromise.

Entertainment, Simplified

Upstairs, the family room features a casual setup with a Sonos Arc soundbar and Sony TV, all designed to blend into the room’s design. Additional displays were installed in bedrooms and on the patio, with everything routed through a centralized system for clean, consistent operation.

Downstairs, we created a media room that offers the full theater experience without overwhelming the space. A Sony OLED display, Anthem surround sound, and Leon Soundbar deliver impact, while one-button control keeps it simple.

Though the project was based in Boston, HTE’s team managed everything from New York. Brendan Dolan, who led project management and installation, made key site visits while coordinating closely with the trades to ensure the design was delivered exactly as planned. From prewire to final walkthrough, this project came together through trust, clear communication, and thoughtful collaboration.

Effortless Technology. Exceptional Living

This home is proof that smart technology doesn’t need to be flashy to make a difference. When designed with purpose and installed with care, it works quietly supporting daily life with beauty, reliability, and ease.
