Retail vs.
Architectural
In the Hamptons, window treatments are often split into two categories: Retail Solutions and Architectural Integration.
Retail brands, such as The Shade Store, have partnered with Lutron to offer "Automation by Lutron." This is an excellent solution for standard retrofits. However, they do not have access to the Lutron Palladiom line—the machined aluminum architectural standard for luxury estates.
HTE does not sell blinds; we engineer light management systems.
Retail Approach
Standard Market Solutions
-
Battery Dependence
Often utilizes battery wands or plug-in transformers. Ideal for simple retrofits but requires maintenance.
-
Concealed Mechanics
Hardware is typically utilitarian and designed to be hidden behind a fabric fascia or valance to obscure the brackets.
-
Consumer Automation
Uses Lutron's consumer-grade motors (Triathlon/Sivoia). Reliable, but lacks the silence and precision of the architectural line.
HTE Approach
The Architectural Standard
-
Panelized Power
Hardwired, centralized power supplies hidden in utility rooms. Zero batteries. Whisper-silent digital motors.
-
Lutron Palladiom
We offer the dealer-exclusive Palladiom line. Machined aluminum brackets designed to be exposed and celebrated, not hidden.
-
Environmental Intelligence
Native integration with Lutron HomeWorks. Shades track the sun to protect art and manage heat automatically.

Lutron Palladiom:
Designed to be Seen
Retail shades rely on valances and fascias to hide plastic components. Lutron Palladiom is different. It is the first shading system designed as architectural hardware.
With hand-finished aluminum brackets and a floating profile, it requires no pockets or recessing. It is chosen by top Hamptons architects not just for how it moves, but for how it looks when it stands still.

The "Hembar Alignment" Standard
In a retail environment, it is common for shades to move at slightly different speeds or settle at uneven heights. In a luxury home, that is unacceptable.
HTE utilizes Intelligent Hembar Alignment technology. Whether you have 2 shades or 200, they move in perfect unison, starting and stopping within 1/8th of an inch of each other. It is a ballet of silence and symmetry.
