Get the Technology
Right From the Start.
Home Technology Experts partners with Hamptons architects, builders, and designers from the earliest stages of new construction — ensuring the technology infrastructure is designed into the home, not added to it afterward.
Why Involve HTE Early
The Walls Will Close.
The Decisions Won't.
Every decision made before walls close costs a fraction of what it costs to retrofit afterward. Early technology planning is the single highest-leverage investment in a new construction project.
20–30% Cost Savings
Installing conduit and low-voltage cabling before drywall closes is dramatically cheaper than retrofitting a finished home. HTE clients consistently save 20–30% on total technology cost through early planning.
Better Design
Rack rooms, conduit pathways, and speaker locations designed into the architecture from the start — not shoehorned in afterward. The result is a cleaner, more capable system that's invisible in the finished home.
Future-Proof Infrastructure
Properly spec'd conduit allows the system to be upgraded or expanded years later without opening walls. HTE designs infrastructure to accommodate technology that doesn't exist yet.
Our Process
How HTE Works on
New Construction.
Design Kickoff — Schematic Phase
We join the design team during schematic design — before architectural drawings are finalized. We review floor plans, establish rack room location and size, identify conduit pathways, and ensure the structural design accommodates the technology scope without compromise.
Deliverables: Technology design brief · Rack room specification · Preliminary scope
Infrastructure Drawing — Construction Documents
HTE produces low-voltage infrastructure drawings compatible with the architect's CAD package — showing conduit runs, pull-box locations, home run pathways, and room-by-room device locations. These drawings are coordinated with the electrical contractor and become part of the construction document set.
Deliverables: Low-voltage CAD drawings · Electrical coordination notes · Conduit schedule
Pre-Wire Rough-In — Framing Stage
Once framing is complete, HTE's installation team arrives to pull low-voltage cabling — speaker wire, ethernet, HDMI, security camera runs, and control cabling — through open walls before insulation and drywall. This is the most critical phase. Done correctly, it's invisible. Done wrong, it's impossible to fix without demolition.
Work: Cable pulling · Conduit installation · Junction box placement · Labeling
Trim-Out & Device Installation — Near Completion
With paint complete and millwork installed, HTE returns to install devices — Lutron keypads, speaker grilles, touchscreens, cameras, access hardware, and AV equipment. Rack builds happen in parallel. Every device is installed to finish specifications and coordinated with interior designers on placement and finish selections.
Work: Device installation · Rack build · AV equipment mounting · Terminations
Programming, Commissioning & Handoff
HTE's programming team configures and tests every system — scenes, schedules, integrations, remote access, and user interfaces. We commission the full system, walk the client through their home in detail, and provide full system documentation. Ongoing support through ExpertCare begins at handoff.
Deliverables: Full programming · System documentation · Client training · ExpertCare enrollment
What We Plan For
Every System.
Designed In.
A Hamptons estate built right has infrastructure for every system — not just the ones you want today, but the ones you'll want in five years. HTE designs for completeness so the home never needs to be opened up again.
Trade Partner Program
Architects. Builders.
Interior Designers.
HTE's dedicated trade partner program provides architects, builders, and designers with a single point of contact throughout the project — from early design coordination to final commissioning. We speak your language, work in your timeline, and make technology the easiest part of the build.
Beyond the Main Residence
The Entire Property.
One System.
Hamptons estates are not just houses — they're full properties with guest houses, pool houses, outdoor kitchens, terraces, and landscape systems. HTE designs infrastructure for the entire footprint so every zone is connected, every system is integrated, and the whole property responds as one.
- Guest house and pool house connectivity
- Outdoor AV — weatherproof speakers and TVs
- Pool and spa automation
- Landscape lighting control integration
- Perimeter security and gate access

FAQ
New Construction Questions.
When should I involve a smart home integrator in a new construction project?
Home Technology Experts recommends involvement as early as the schematic design phase — ideally before architectural drawings are finalized. Early involvement allows conduit paths, electrical rough-in locations, and rack room placement to be designed into the structure rather than retrofitted afterward, which significantly improves performance and reduces total cost by 20–30%.
What is a smart home pre-wire and why does it matter?
A smart home pre-wire is the installation of conduit and low-voltage cabling before walls are closed during construction. Proper pre-wiring is the foundation of every great smart home system — without it, adding whole-home audio, lighting control, networking, or security systems requires invasive and expensive retrofitting. HTE designs and oversees pre-wire on every new construction project.
Does HTE work directly with architects and builders in the Hamptons?
Yes. Home Technology Experts has deep relationships with leading Hamptons architects, builders, and interior designers. We participate in design coordination meetings, provide infrastructure drawings compatible with architectural CAD, coordinate with electrical contractors, and maintain a dedicated trade partner program that supports the full construction team throughout the project.
What smart home systems should be planned for in new construction?
For a new construction Hamptons estate, HTE recommends planning infrastructure for Lutron HomeWorks lighting control, motorized shades, Control4 or Savant home automation, whole-home audio, home theater, enterprise networking, security cameras, smart access control, outdoor AV, pool and landscape control, and Starlink or fiber internet. Planning all systems during design ensures the infrastructure supports future expansion without opening walls.
How much does smart home new construction cost in the Hamptons?
Smart home systems for new construction Hamptons estates typically range from $80,000 for a mid-range scope to $500,000 or more for a full estate. New construction is typically 20–30% more cost-effective than equivalent retrofitting because conduit and cabling can be installed cleanly before walls close. HTE provides detailed proposals after reviewing architectural drawings — at no charge.
